Systems Development Engineer

Industrial Optimizers require a Systems Development Engineer to join our team in Stockholm.

The candidate will have a passion for software development and be keen to enhance their existing skills through learning new methods. The applicant will be keen to learn about optimization techniques and their application to solving business planning problems, with particular focus on the transport industry.

Our team works with multiple projects and proactive in supporting one another. The applicant will be as equally enthusiastic about software development as they are for meeting clients, both potential and current. The candidate will enjoy demonstrating products to end users through webinars and in person. Strong communication and networking skills together with an ability to deal with customers located in different countries and business cultures are required. The candidate must be prepared to travel.

Industrial Optimizers provides high quality specialized business planning and support tools to commercial airlines, passenger rail and coach operators.

Our principal product, MP2, is one of the world’s most advanced transport optimization, network planning, scheduling and analysis tools. It is a multipurpose piece of software with solutions for numerous business functions within an organization.

The company was established in 1989 and is headquartered in Stockholm with additional offices in the United Kingdom and Mexico.

Your profile

§  You’re a recent graduate with a university degree including education in programming

§  Passion for software development

§  Outstanding communication skills in English (both verbally and in writing). Other languages are of merit.

§  Ability to work both in a team and independently – self-motivating

§  Able to deal with clients and end users, including giving product demonstrations, training and supporting customers

§  Curiosity and willingness to learn new skills and widen existing ones

§  Knowledge of Relational databases (e.g. MS SQL, Oracle)

§  Skills in Object-orientated programming (OOP)

§  Keen to develop and implement new software solutions as well as maintain and enhance existing functionality

§  A proactive mindset to finding solutions to problems and making suggestions for improvements to existing functionality

Additional skills

It would be considered an advantage if you have skills and/or experience working with:

§  Cloud-servers (e.g. MS Azure)

§  Virtual Machines

§  Active Directory

§  VPNs

§  Embarcadero Delphi Programming language

§  Mobile application development

§  Web development

§  Matlab


The position is full time and will be based in Stockholm with a requirement for domestic and international travel from time to time.
